Happy Birthday To Me

by Janie Jones

Greetings, all!

This is not a real post.  It is a pseudo post, a post disguising as a post, with the intent of referring you to the real post at:

http://janiejonesgreatwhitenorth.net/

I hope you will join me there, if you haven’t already.

I could not figure out how to make the subscription app/widget thing work at my new blog home, so to help folks catch my vastly entertaining material when it’s hot off the blog press, I thought I’d put a link here where the old subscription widget actually works.

Hope you are all well.

Change of Address

by Janie Jones

Well, blogosphere. Here it is.

As my loyal blog friends know, the free blog site hosted by WordPress.com has just changed too much.  And, as I’ve been threatening to do, I moved.

*Queue melodramatic soundtrack*

It has been a time of great trial and tribulation.  First I sought a different free blog site provider.  And I absolutely love using blog.com, when it works. I especially love the look I can get with the customization tools. Unfortunately, I just have too many problems with my visitors not being able to access this site.

So, I have made the difficult decision to move, again. If you have been trying to follow me at my blog.com site or hoping I’d re-appear here, please look for me at my new blog home. Just think of it as Janie 3.0.

I will continue to monitor this site for a little while in case visitors have trouble accessing me at my new digs.  Please let me know if you can’t find me, either by commenting here or by email at janiejones.greatwhitenorth@gmail.com.

Thanks for all the years of support and friendship!

Drum roll please

by Janie Jones

Although I have just said that I was going on hiatus, I did realize that I have big news which I would like to share with all of you who have hung in there reading my drivel and providing words of encouragement through out the torture of higher education.

“Here ye, here ye:

Let it be known far and wide that this is the formal announcement of

the graduation of Janie Jones

from Stickittoyou University College of Science and Engineering

on the seventh of May, two thousand sixteen, with a

Bachelor of Science degree in Cell & Molecular Biology and a

Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemistry.

With hearty congratulations, unto her may all the honors of debt, continuing joblessness, and over qualification now be conferred.”

Thanks to all my bloggy buddies who followed me along through the train wreck of my educational journey.  It feels marvelous to be done.

Now I must find a job.  Currently I have a temporary job, still working with the Lyme disease research, but it will probably wind down to just part time in July before it dries up completely at the end of the summer. I have been collecting, photographing, cataloging and extracting DNA from ticks.  Then I test the DNA I’ve extracted for DNA from the bacteria that cause Lyme disease, Anaplasmosis and Babesiosis.  I’ve also been doing some community outreach presentations of Lyme disease and teaching incoming sophomore and junior level college students.

I really like the work and am thrilled to have it, it pays pretty well and is flexible with scheduling, so it is a shame it won’t last.  Being extremely loathe to leave Big City, I am hoping something else more permanent will come along in the area soon.  Now all I can do is be patient, apply for jobs, and hope my hard work will be rewarded with something resembling a degree utilizing job.

And that is all the news.

This is Janie Jones, signing off for a while.  It has been a pleasure to be a part of the blogosphere.  Best wishes to you all until we cross paths again!

Update from the Great White North

by Janie Jones

Well the “new” blog is a bust.  So few people could view it, and I even had trouble logging in sometimes, that I gave up in frustration.  I was looking into switching to a web hosting platform, but that was too confusing to learn while still dealing with school.  This location still “works” but, as I have perhaps alluded to before, I hate the new updates and it kills the joy in blogging.  Therefore, as  you all have no doubt guessed by now, Janie’s Place is on semi-indefinite hiatus.

I do miss blogging from time to time, so when (if) life ever settles down I might try to get something going again.  I will try to let you who have stuck with me over the years know if I ever get going again.  And for any of you blog friends who would like to keep in touch off the blog, please feel free to drop me an email.  I do answer my emails very regularly.

Okay, maybe this will help

by Janie Jones

So I’ve only heard from about a quarter of my dear readers (which means about 3 of you).  Two of whom couldn’t access the new blog address.  In sitting with Leif who was unable to read it, I discovered that the link in the earlier post was misdirecting.  While there is, admittedly, some chance of operator error causing this problem, I prefer to blame WordPress.  I might go so far to say that WordPress was deliberately thwarting my escape of their poorly redesigned platform.  But that would definitely be a tall tale.

In any event.  If you have not been having success accessing the new address please try cutting and pasting this into your browser:

janiejonesgreatwhitenorth.blog.com

I have not posted recently as I have been preoccupied with homework, part time job, and searching for gainful employment post graduation, but there are older posts some of you might not have seen if you were thwarted by the ill-programmed previous link.

I would really like to know if you continue to have problems following me to my new digs.  Feel free to email me directly at janiejones.greatwhitenorth @ gmail.com.

Well, now. This is a real bummer…

by Janie Jones

Greetings to anyone still perusing this blog.

I have not been able to get into my new blog all morning.  This has happened a few times now.  It generally resolves by the next day when I try, but I don’t always want to wait.  Irritating.  I wanted to do Tuesday Titters on Tuesday.

Also, I have heard tell of at least one bloggy buddy who couldn’t access the new digs with a laptop.  I knew there was the risk of problems on mobile devices like cell phones, but I use a laptop and didn’t think that would be a problem.  If there are others who can’t get to the new place with laptops, that would be a real issue.

So, please, please give me some feedback.  If too many of you can’t access the new place and I continue to have problems getting in myself I may have to re-think blog.com despite how much I like the platform interface.

I guess I should have studied computer science and web design instead of biochemistry and cell biology….

Happy Blog Warming!

by Janie Jones

Well friends, I have finally got myself established in some new digs.  I will now be blogging at blog.com.  You can visit me at: http://janiejonesgreatwhitenorth.blog.com/

Where I will be known as:

FROM THE BRAIN OF JANE.

I think the site is 99% functional.  I have been doing a little blogging there lately just to get used to it and make sure I liked the platform, so if you are bored there’s several posts to read.  I also delayed making the link public until I was fairly happy with the new look.  It is different in many ways, but some things won’t change (I still look like a cartoon character, Tilly).

I want to thank everyone who has read Janie’s Place and especially those who have paused to comment.  Having you visit here has meant the world to me.  And, so I sincerely hope that we can continue on as before.  But, I do feel compelled to add that a friend tipped me off that blog.com free hosting is not compatible with mobile devices.  Therefore, to any of you who use your cell phones for blog reading I apologize for the inconvenience.  I hope I won’t lose you as a friend/reader.

Well, now.  There you have it.  I hope to see you all there, and we will find out together how things will pan out in the future.

Sincerely,

Janie Jones
