Christmas Time is Here

by Janie Jones

The stockings were hung from the buffet with care,

With hopes St. Nicholas would fill them so full they could no longer hang there.

The house was all quiet in anticipation of Christmas morning cheer,

Janie Jones paused for a moment to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I made it! Sort of…

by Janie Jones

Semester finals are over.

There is much rejoicing.

I can’t report feeling as though I’ve performed as well as I’d like, but I’m pretty sure I passed everything.  Grades won’t be in until Monday, and there’s nothing more to be done about it now so I’m just trying to put it behind me and convince myself that I can sufficiently recover over the break and tackle spring with renewed vigor.  That’s all I can do.  The educational battle wages on.

I’m hoping that maybe I’ll rediscover my own blog.  I miss it.  And, I miss reading all your blogs regularly.

But, first, there’s holiday revelry to be had.  Tomorrow I go to the Big City and pick up my friend Peggy, who is riding with me to pick up the Spud in the Major Metropolis.  Then, we’re all heading back to the Jones residence for birthday partying and Christmas partying all weekend long.  On Monday there’s some work to be done, but on Tuesday we have Christmas Eve, when many Christmas day delicacies are prepared.  Then Santa will come.  On Christmas Day we’re going to bask in the glow of unwrapped presents and visit friends in the afternoon.

It will be a busy time, but there will be no studying, and there will be good friends, family and food.  What more does a person need?

And, now I have to get prepared for all this impending revelry.  At last a chore I don’t loathe and have actually been looking forward to…

Just so you know

by Janie Jones

I’ve been asked when I’m going to make another post.

I’d kinda like to know the answer to that question myself.  But, the problem is I’m so busy, I don’t have much time for writing blog posts, and most of what’s on my mind is panic about school, money, moving and other dull subjects you probably are sick of reading about anyway.

But, if it interests anyone to know, I have just 4 more days of class until finals.

I have 10 more days until I pick up the Spud for the holidays.

I have at least one more batch of holiday fudge to make, and some other holiday treats to bake.

I have some Christmas cards to sign and mail.

I have quite a few packages still to wrap.

But before I can do all that, I must shower and get my day rolling.  Hopefully, I’ll catch up with you all soon.

“What did you do to my dog?!?”

by Janie Jones

Ugly Dog Sweater

I bought Rupert this ugly Christmas dog sweater at Target on clearance for $4.  It fits him much better than his Walmart dog sweaters.  Should we be surprised?  Anyway, it is rather loud, but it is also very festive, even a month and a half past Christmas.  And, did I mention it was only $4?

“What did you do to my dog?!?”  At first Leif was a little horrified, but he’s grown used to it.  I’ve even heard him say when petting Rupert through all the ugly knit fibers of the sweater, “Awww, who’s my handsome boy?”

And, he is.

Tuesday Titters: Week 52, going out with a fizzle….

by Janie Jones

Knock knock.

Who’s there?

Avery.

Avery who?

Avery merry Christmas to you!

It’s the last joke of the year, you’d think I could have come up with something better.  And on Christmas Day, too.  But, I programmed this early so I could be a holiday slug, sleeping in, opening presents, sipping tea by my tree and enjoying the hush of a quiet Christmas.

So, a very merry Christmas to you all.

Okay, okay, you knew I couldn’t resist one more.  Here’s a bonus joke.  It’s my present to you all:

Why does Santa come down the chimney?

Because Elf-evators hadn’t been invented yet at the first Christmas and he’s a stickler for tradition.

What’s that, you want one more?  You haven’t had enough lame Santa jokes?  Okay.  Just one more:

What do you call Janie Jones when she tells too many lame holiday jokes?

A real Christmas card.

Happy holidays, may the lame jokes stop here, and your days be merry and bright.

Hugs, Janie Jones

How do we know Santa never got stuck in the chimney?

He doesn’t have Claus-trophopia!

by Janie Jones

Why does Santa come down the chimney to deliver presents?

Because it soots him.
