Let’s NOT do the time warp again…

by Janie Jones

Yesterday I had timing issues.  I think I’ve been in a whole time warp conundrum this week.  Here it is Thursday, and I have no idea where all my time has gone.  I’m supposed to be relaxing and enjoying my summer, but alas, my week has been so full of doctor appointments, chores and work I hardly have had a moment to think of bloggy fun goodness.  Though I did manage to steal a little fun yesterday, we went reconnoitering for good camping sites.  Along the way we stopped at a little resale shop which was a used book haven.

Ahhh.  Cheap books.

I could spend all day climbing ladders right up to the rafters digging through dusty old tomes to find my secret treasures.  I got Tess of the D’Ubervilles by Thomas Hardy, Tom Jones by Henry Fielding, Sons and Lovers by D.H. Lawrence, and The Parasites by Daphne du Maurier.  I don’t know if they’ll be any good, but they fit my goal of reading a book a week this summer (Task #20 of 101 in 1001 days).  Now if I could only carve out time for them….

Well, no rest for the wicked.  I must be very wicked indeed….

Task Mistress Day 55; Task 16 out of 101/1001

by Janie Jones

16.  Find a work study job for the fall. (4/11/12; 4/23/12)

I am a glutton for punishment.  Seriously.  I had no problems lining up a work study gig for fall.  Care to guess why?

I mentioned I’d be looking for one to my Spanish teacher and she offered to take me on.  Which is great.  She’s really nice.  I’ll be her personal secretary and apparently her Teacher’s Assistant for her English composition class and, did you see this coming? Spanish.

Just when I thought I could put that behind me, I’m in for it again.  At least this time I won’t be graded, I’ll be helping with the grading.  But my teacher is a native Spanish speaker so she’s been emailing me with summer instructions in Spanish.

*sigh*

Please pass the Spanish-English dictionary….

Task Mistress Day 54: Task 44 out of 101/1001

by Janie Jones

44.  Update blog with new seasonal banner.  (5/2/12; 5/13/12?)

I probably should have address this one sooner, as you’ve been looking at my new seasonal make over for a while now.  Ha!  And now I’m already getting restless with the new banner and color scheme and contemplating a new one.  I’m even thinking about changing the layout.  What do you think?

I do definitely prefer WordPress to Blogspot (where I’ve had blogs in the past and don’t ever wish to go back) but there are quite a few times when I miss having my own website to design from scratch.  Then I remember how much work that was and think I should just stay where I’m at.

Task Mistress Day 53: Task 15 out of 101/1001

by Janie Jones

15.  Make banana bread from the over ripe bananas that have been taunting me for the last 3 days (this probably should have appeared first on my list). (4/11/12; 4/12/12)

LOL!  While I really did need to make banana bread, and I really did make it, this task was mostly put down for fun.  Believe it or not I used to be much snarkier, until life sort of beat all the wry humor and wit right out of me.  Thinking of this now though it puts me in mind to add another task to my list, something along the lines of doing more baking again.  I love to bake!

Anyway, I have a yummy homemade banana bread recipe, and once the bread is out of the pan it doesn’t last long.  Leif and the spud are banana bread gluttons.

Now I’m just going to be really silly…

Man:  Do you have a bun in the oven?

Woman:  Yeah, remember when you were really happy to see me?  Well, that wasn’t a banana in your pocket and I’ve the pastry to prove it.

Task Mistress Day 52: Task 11 out of 101/1001

11.  Find a summer job. (4/11/12; 4/27/12)

Hmn.  Well this was accomplished, but I’ve already bitched enough about this here.

Task Mistress Day 51; Task 8 out of 101/1001

8. Get at least a B on all my finals. (5/3/12; 5/11/12)

Mission accomplished!!  Grades are in.  Janie is sporting a 4.0.  There were times where I didn’t think I could do it, but then, I’m tenacious and a perfectionist.  Now we’ll see if it can last when I starts me maths classes…

Task Mistress Day 50; Task 9 out of 101/1001

9.  Figure out how to sit for two finals 75 miles apart at the same time on the same day. (4/11/12; 5/1/12)

This turned out to be easier than I thought, as the two finals in question were for Spanish and Anthropology, and being as my Spanish class consisted of just 4 students the teacher let us pick a different date that was preferable to everyone.  So one problem solved, but it turned out to be even less necessary because after we picked the new date for the Spanish final, the teacher announced that she would exempt anyone with an A in the class and perfect attendance from the final.  I didn’t think I was going to be able to make an A this semester, but between my fantastic chicken tacos with mole and an extra credit project I did on double negatives I managed to have a 93.79% which she rounded up to the cut off of 94% for an A.  I thought it was very nice of her to round up, don’t you?
