Today would be my birthday back in the days before calendars

by Janie Jones

Jones family legend has it that I was born on the first snow fall of the year.  Growing up my dad used to point out that in “olden times” my birthday then would be celebrated on the first snow fall of the year.  Perhaps that is why I have a special affinity for the first snow of the year.  Up in the Great White North however, that can happen pretty early.  I think this year we had snow mid October.

In any event, I’ve been looking to turn on  the “snow” on my blog for the last week.  But, I couldn’t remember when Word Press made it available, nor could I remember what spot they hid that preference.  Then lo and behold, today it automatically started when I looked in at my blog a bit ago.  What a happy surprise!!

Funny it is just two days shy of my birthday.  Naturally, I had to point this out.

And, also ironically, all our real snow melted over the weekend.

  1. Does no snow mean no birthday that year? Horrible!
