It’s really just the simple things that amuse me most

by Janie Jones

I’m really not that materialistic.  I have simple needs.  And, some treasures I love most are the humblest in value.

Today I struck the treasure hunting jackpot.  I found an awesome green textured glass salad bowl at the Salvation Army Thrift Store.  I used it for my salad tonight.  Leif complimented my bowl.  I felt good.  It was an impulse buy to be sure.  Did I need another salad bowl?  Nah.  But it is green textured glass.  I collect green textured glass.  I need more green textured glass like I need another hole in my head.  Naturally, I wanted it anyway.  And, I’ve been trying to be a very good girl lately despite many of life’s disappointments.  So I determined I deserved a new green textured glass salad bowl.  And, even my broke, no-money-having self could scratch up the $2 for it without feeling too guilty.

Oh, and the reason I even found it was because I went looking for a replacement rack for my turkey roaster I bought last summer at the flea market.  And, I found one of those, too.  For 25 cents.

I know.  I get excited about weird things.
