Sometimes it might be safer not to think…

by Janie Jones

I was supposed to have my first chemistry exam on Tuesday.

Tuesday of course, I was still feeling mighty poorly.  I have seen proof that fortune does occasionally favor the foolish because the instructor decided to postpone the exam until today.  So I had a whole extra day to study and recover somewhat before I had to look like I knew what I was doing.

So I took the practice quiz.  It went well.

So I managed to get a good night sleep (although still being sick, enough sleep is never really enough).

So, I studied this morning for about an hour before the exam.

And, promptly at 10am the exam began.  I took a deep breath and tried not to panic at the thickness of the exam packet and how overwhelmingly tired I still felt.  My confidence in my grasp of the material is not real high, but to my great relief there was only one conversion from cubic centimeters to cubic feet, which, in theory shouldn’t be difficult.  The remaining calculations seemed to go well, and so provided I didn’t make any stupid math errors or blow it on the naming of the cations, anions, and oxyanions I might pull off a highly respectable grade.

So, I’m optimistic, but then I’m not sure if that means I did well and did actually know what I was talking about, or I was so clueless I am in deep doo-doo.

Well now I’m off to do my actual math homework.

I am such a glutton for punishment.
